Spyros is Professor at the ECE Department, University of Thessaly, Greece. He received a Diploma in Computer Science and a PhD in Technical Sciences from ETHZ, and has worked at the Computer Science Department, University of Crete, the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) and the Center for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). His research interests are mainly in programming models, operating systems, distributed systems and ubiquitous computing. He has actively contributed in the development of system software and middleware for market-based resource allocation, distributed computing and metacomputing, ad-hoc wearable computing, wireless sensor/actuator networks, mobile/crowd sensing and drone-based systems. He has published over 100 scientific papers in international journals and conferences, and has received significant funding for his work through competitive EU and national research projects.
